Spain is the new U-17 European Champion

The home team won an amazing final against Portugal thanks to the golden goal scored by Nil Gamissans. France got the bronze medal.

Spain won the U17 European Championship after four years (its last victory was in 2012 in Ploufragan, France) and took the place of Portugal on the higher step of the podium. That’s the main verdict of the tournement that ended tonight in Mieres. In an exciting and amazing final, Spain gave, togheter with Portugal, a concrete demonstration of how rink hockey can be an extraordinary sport. The decisive match has been balanced from the beginning to the end. Portugal scored first, but Spain tied and went ahead for three times (2-1, 3-2 and 4-3). Portugal always drew the game. After 40 minutes, the game was tied and extra time with golden gol were necessary to assign the title. A shot by Gamissans gave the gold medal to Spain.
The bronze medal goes to France which won 4-1 the final against Germany. For France is the second bronze medal in a row after the one won last year in Luso.
Italy got the 5th place winning again with Andorra. The 7th position went to Switzerland at the end of a very balanced game with England decided by a golden goal. Israel performed a great come back against Austria and, after having lost 3-1 yesterday, won 7-4 at the golden goal today and got an historical 9th place.
