In Barcelos (Portugal) the first trophee of European Rink Hockey 2018-19, the Continental Cup

The first European trophee will take place in Barcelos (North of Portugal) in the next days, 29 and 30 September 2018. The 38th edition of Continental Cup will be the second with the final four formula: last year in Viareggio won Oliveirense against Reus, both Euroleague’s finalist (2017). Four teams will fight saturday 29th september for conquering the final sunday 30th september at 17.00 h (local time): FC Barcelona (Spain), Euroleague 2018’s Champion, FC Porto (Portugal), finalist’s Euroleague 2018, CE Lleida Lista (Spain), CERS Cup 2018’s Winner and OC Barcelos (Portugal), Finalist’s CERS CUP 2018. The second edition of Final Four will take place in Pavilhao Municipal de Barcelos, called from their supporters “Catedral”, have a capacity of 2000 spectators, in one of the best rink for atmosphere and for passion of our sport. It will be a sensational show for Rink Hockey, also because all the 4 teams didn’t win the Continental Cup from many years and all the 4 teams can reach the final and try to win it. An example: Barcelona won the latest of their huge history, in 2015 against Sporting. 

It is the second time that Barcelos will hold a final competition, the third in the history: the first in 1994-95 (against Tordera), second in 2015-2016 with formula final four. Oquei Clube de Barcelos (3 times winner CERS CUP, 1 Cup’s Cup) that has already won 1 Continental Cup (Called Supercup) in 1991-92, and finalist of 2018’s edition of CERS CUP, will play against Futbal Club Barcelona at 21.00 (local time, h 22.00 CET), 17 times winner of Continental Cup, 22 times winner Euroleague. In the first match, instead, Club Esportiu Lleida Llista, 2018 Winner CERS CUP in penalty shot in the final with Barcelos, will face the Futebol Club do Porto at 18.00 (local time, h 19.00 CET), 2 times winner Euroleague (85-86, 89-90), 1 time winner Continental Cup (1986-87 Super Cup).
The two winners of the Semifinals, will play against in the final, scheduled at h 17.00 (local time, h 18.00 CET).

LIVE BROADCASTING

All the three matches will be broadcasted live our new WEBTV (www.cers-rinkhockey.tv). For live television broadcasting, Porto Canal will produce the Continental Cup Final Four. In Portugal the games  will be broadcasted live from Porto Canal  and in Spain Tv3 Catalunya (Esports3). Barcelona-Barcelos will be not covered in live television in Portugal.

Francesco Compagno (Italy) is the best scorer of the 51st edition of European Championship Under 20. In 6 matches played, he scored 14 goals. In second place Pol Manrubia with 11 goals, author of the decisive goal of the gold medal. In third position the spanish Alejandro Joseph 10 goals and the portoguese Hugo Santos 10 goals (in 5 match). 5-6th for two germans, Alexander Ober and Max Thiel with 9 centers.

The best scorer in last 6 years was Francesco Compagno (Italy): he scored 26 goals in 17 appereances with the goal average 1,53. He played 3 European Championship in 2014-15, 2016-17 and 2018-2019. In the second position the portuguese Goncalo Alves has scored 23 goals but only in one championship: he has the best goal average with 3,83. In third position Carlo di Benedetto (France) with 17 goals active and in fourth Robin Simons (Switzerland) with 16. The first spanish in the top scorer list is Pol Manrubia with 11 goals, ranked in 8th position.

[PORTUGAL] Espanha sagra-se campeã da Europa de sub-20

Espanha subiu ao lugar mais alto do pódio no Campeonato da Europa sub-20, que se disputou ao longo de uma semana na cidade portuguesa de Viana do Castelo. Ao bater Itália na final, por 3-2, a seleção espanhola conquistou a medalha de ouro que há cinco edições consecutivas pertencia a Portugal. Espanha não era campeã neste escalão desde 2006. Portugal, que defendia o título, ficou com a medalha de bronze correspondente ao terceiro posto, que já não ocupada desde 2002. Os portugueses subiram ao terceiro lugar do pódio depois de ter vencido a Alemanha por 7-2. Checco Compagno, internacional italiano, terminou o Europeu como melhor marcador da prova, com 14 golos marcados.

Spain return to win the U20 European Championship after 12 years

Spain return to win the U20 European Championship after 12 years. A great game of Sergio Macia’s Team against a square Italy with many incredible saves of his goalkeeper Zampoli, one of the best players of the tournament. Three to two the final result, after a tactical match resolved with a shot from about 20 metres to 10 minutes to the end. Italy made the best of its repertoire in first period but in the second half has suffered the attack skills of the opposite team. Portugal took the bronze medal against a solid Germany (7-2) and Switzerland has classified 5th, England 6th. The U20 European Championship will return in 2020.

Switzerland won again against England for 11 to 4. After the victory of yesterday, the swisse team won again with a clearly superiority from the start of the game. England has tried to return in the match after the partial of 4-0 in less then 10 minutes. Two goals for the english in the first period, but Switzerland has remained with a +4. In the second half, Switzerland has increased his score with other 5 goals. Best scorers was Gregorio Boll with 3 goals, 2 gor Althaus and Walther. For England scored twice Daly. Switzerland confirmed the result of 2016 with the 5th position, instead England finally ranked in 6th place.

Without the best scorer Santos, injured yesterday in latest minutes of the game, Portugal has conquered the bronze medal. An equal first half: unique goal was for Pereira in penalty shot. In the start of the second period, germans has drawn the match with Ober. The answer of portugueses arrived very early, with a significative three goals in a row in only 70 seconds. The break of 3-0 (2 goals Neto) was decisive for conquering the bronze medal. In the last part of the match, two other goals for the definitive 5-2. After 5 consecutive U-20 title, never happened in the history of the category, Portugal won the bronze.

Italy made the best of its repertoire in first period but in the second part has suffered the attack skills of the opposite team. 1-1 the results after first period: Compagno scored the best goal ever of this EuroU20 and draw a shot of Ricart. At the start of second half, Domenech has taken the lead with a short shot in the area, but some minutes after, the best scorer of EuroU20, Francesco Compagno, has centered the draw in on a Direct free shot penalty. Spain has remained so many minutes in the attack zone to search the advantage, that they found at 10 minute to go, thanks to a great shot from 20 metres of Manrubia, spanish best scorer. It was the last goal of a tough final match for the gold. Spain return to win after 12 years, Italy win the second silver in 2 years, happened only 1 time in the history, in 1990 and in 1991.
